![]() I am blessed to live in a beautiful neighborhood. The houses, condos, and brownstones (in which I live) are all close to the street with small but beautifully manicured lawns. We have wide sidewalks to encourage people to get out and walk. There are beautiful flowers everywhere, especially in the medians. Some of the trees are even lighted at night. All of our garages and driveways are in the back from alleys. My home office is on the front of my 20-foot wide brownstone, with only a flower bed and sidewalk between it and the street. I can look out the window while I am working and be drawn in to the beauty of the neighborhood. Once or twice a day, I just have to stop what I am doing (usually on the computer) and go out and take a walk. In fact, I am going to that right now. Be back shortly. .................................................... Okay, I’m back. Sometimes it’s good just take a break. As I walk like this, I am thinking of ways to make my work better. Then when I return, I am able to get right back to work and to concentrate even better. Many days, I go to lunch alone and also find this time to be productive in planning and thinking. We all need some thinking time. If you are not taking advantage of such in your life, then you are missing out. Some feel that you have to go away on a vacation to have these times, but I disagree. Just a 5-minute walk around the block or a 30-minute meal in a restaurant can be of tremendous help in your daily life. Go out and take a walk.
