Since he did not have school on Monday, my grandson Clark (age 7) spent the night with me on Sunday night. Then on Monday, we took our usual trip to downtown Dallas to eat lunch at Spaghetti Warehouse. We don’t make the trip in my car but we “ride the rails” as we take the Trinity Railway Express to Union Station in downtown Dallas and then ride the DART Light Rail to West End and Spaghetti Warehouse. Clark really enjoys the trip as we are on the train about 45 minutes each way. It is a relaxing time for me also.
I get a chance to get away from everything, enjoy the ride and the sights along the way, converse with Clark, and just think. Since he plays games on my iPad most of the travel time, I really get a chance to think.
On this trip to Dallas, however, we were surprised to find our good friends, Eddie and Lena Nelson, on the same train and we had a very good visit on the ride.
Sometimes, it’s good to spend time with friends and sometimes it’s just good to think while riding the rails. This time, I got to do both.
